CD Reviews

A testimonial of an incredible tour

"Last year Heroes del Silencio, one of the greatest rock bands from the 90's announced a 10 concert tour. It was not a come back but a way for them to heal the existing wounds in the relationship between them (mostly between Enrique Bunbury and Juan Valdivia) that caused the band to split in 1996. No new songs but a tour around 10 major cities they would select to play their hits. The result from that tour has been released as `Tour 2007'.

This double album reviews their whole discography and their greatest hits. The order of the tracks is pretty much the same of the setlist from their concerts opening with `El estanque' followed by `Deshacer el mundo'. The band plays as well as in their best times and Enrique is simply in his best moment as an artist and a singer. The energy with which they perform in their live shows doesn't show they were absent for over ten years.

Think of a single or a famous song of the band and you'll find it here, this may not be the best approach for starters but for fans is an excellent recording that surpasses the classic `Para siempre'. Like mentioned before, the tour consisted only of 10 concerts, most of the songs in this album were recorded during the two concerts in Mexico DF, but they were kind enough though to include one song from each of the other shows; so the version of `Agosto' you'll listen here was recorded in Guatemala, `Flor Venenosa' in Monterrey, `Despertar' in Valencia, `Bendecida' in LA, `Tumbas de sal' in Sevilla, the incredible `Malas intenciones' in Zaragoza and `Fuente de esperanza' in Buenos Aires.

The graphic design is an interesting work, but it makes you wonder if the band still has issues with Enrique being the main figure of the band. The quality of the recording is excellent (you can expect Enrique Bunbury's usual treatment to his live recordings, the voice is a re-recording in studio and not the actual live audio).

I had the opportunity to attend their concert in Monterrey and believe me when I tell you this double CD does justice to the excellent show they gave. This set is definitely a must for fans and music lovers.
