"These songs (most of them Guajiras and Son Montunos) would probably be classified as salsa, but Fiol would rather call them "Son Moderno" or "Corazón Music"...recorded in the mid '80s, the arrangements and musicianship are terrific, and it's non-stop dance music.Favorites are "El Corazón del Jugador", "Perdido en la Ciudad", "Picoteando por Ahi", and "La Ultima Rumba", all written by Fiol, and songs you'll never tire of hearing...sadly, judging from the amazon sales rank, few have ever heard them at all !A native of New York City, as a young man he was influenced by the greats of the 60's (Pacheco, Barretto, etc.), and also the Cuban Guajiro sound...out of this blend came his own brand of heartfelt artistry, as a musician, singer, and songwriter. The cover is also interesting...set against a dark and dilapidated New York building, the "suit" is a beautiful painting by Fiol, of a lush tropical landscape."
