REDDY'S VERY BEST

"This CD is a compilation of Reddy's two albums recorded for MCA records in the 80s. The first being "Play Me Out" and the second "Imagination". Had MCAs promotion department not dropped the ball with the latter...Reddy would've been among the best selling female vocalists of that decade as well. It was her most expensive album ever and it showed. Her vocals on "The Way I Feel" and "Winner In Your Eyes" can't be matched by her 70's work. "Imagination" is unlike anything else she's ever recorded (popular in dance clubs) and adds just one more facet to the many sides of her recording talent. The most gut wrentching track is "Guess You Had To Be There". It is a song about a letter written from an angry single mother to an absentee father...it is spine chilling. You don't have to be a big Reddy fan to enjoy this CD. It is absolutley her best."
"Play Me Out", "Imagination" & More...

"Excellent compilation of Reddy's overlooked work from her two 1980's albums on the MCA label ("Play Me Out"/1981 & "Imagination"/1983), as well as the previously unreleased gem "Don't Throw It All Away" & the single "Never Say Goodbye"(Theme From "Continental Divide"). If Ms. Reddy hadn't had the stigma of becoming a 70's relic by the time these songs were released, & MCA knew how to market her, she could have had several comeback hits here, along the lines of Tina Turner's 1980's resurgence. "I Can't Say Goodbye To You" is a beautiful ballad. "Imagination" is a great techno-pop dance tune in the Debby Harry mode. Unfortunately, the 12" extended single version isn't the one featured here. "Handsome Dudes" is in an R&B vein & was also recorded by Thelma Houston. There's also a cover of Crystal Gayle's "When I Dream". This is a great album for Helen Reddy fans & people who enjoy pleasant pop/easy listening/adult contemporary tunes. They deserved more recognition than they received upon their release!!"
