CD ReviewsAn atmospheric wall of electronica Said Head | MN, USA | 08/16/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Being a Wire/Lewis fan, along with enjoying industrial music, I felt I could do no wrong with buying this, and I absolutely love it. If you like Wire's more electronic-influenced ventures, not to mention Graham Lewis' solo projects, you'll love it too. Overall the whole album is extremely repetitive, moody, and ambient (think of the songs 'You Hung Your Lights...' mixed with 'The First Letter', and you get the overall picture). Not a single track misses its mark.
While the album has only 6 tracks, 4/6 are between 8-13 minutes, so in aspect of length you get your money's worth. I'm not sure who the leading artistic perspective on this album is, either Lewis or the group Omala, but it does retain Lewis' deep, nearly hypnotically spoken vocals, strangely imaginative lyrics, and of course the deep repetition that really hooks you into the feel. If you're looking for something that doesn't really do anything but suck you into its synthetic gelatin, this is exactly what you'll want in your collection." |
