CD Reviews

Mediocre at best
C. Koei | Sandy Eggo, CA | 09/02/2004
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Some people's reviews are really concerning and I doubt whether they are true critiques or just play something in the background and have no clue what makes an album quality or not. I bought Hazen because it was on sale and the band LOOKS hardcore. Unfortunately I was mistaken.

The sound is uninspiring and VERY amateurish. Too many call and response hooks, the song writing is so simplistic it borders on annoying in many songs. I guess my main disappointment is that there are many quality bands out with alot of talent and potential who are not getting a shot while sub-par talent with industry connections move up the ladder.

Hazen St. would make an excellent rock band to play at your local bar but to pay your money for their album? I would recommend looking elsewhere."
Awesome cd!
J. R. Carr | Jersey | 08/13/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This cd is simply great. I've been listening to ska, punk, and hardcore for over ten years, and this is definitely one of the most entertaining and lively album's I've heard since Streetlight Manifesto hit this time last year. The cd is poppy but not annoying like Good Charlotte. It's heavy, but not too hard. It's punk, but not in a "I'm more punk than you" way.

"Written," is definitely one of the deeper songs on the album. The lyrics hit home with anyone that has actually dealt with real issues in their life. These guys identify with the street, because that's where they came from, but they tell their stories in very articulate ways that make the cd very interesting and dynamic. Definitely the best cd to come out this summer!

Anyone who thinks these guys are amateurish needs to have their head examined. You've got members from two of the most revered hardcore bands ever, H2O and Madball. Freddy Madball and Toby Morse give the band instant credibility, and the rest of the band drive the sound. These guys are moving into new sounds to expand on what they've done before. H2O has usually been really fast paced punk-core, whiel Madball has always been really hard hitting and heavy. With Hazen St. they combine the sounds and add in a little hip-hop, reggae, and pop for good measure."
Hazen street madball meets h20 and new found glory

"found the hazen street cd a extremely good listen. freddy from madball rocks, as does toby from h20. not exactly what you would expect from these guys but most tracks have good hooks that keep you playing them over and over."
