"I can't believe this is available on amazon.com. Well, at the moment there's none for sale. But the band will sell you one directly at hates.com This is the band doing a Redux album, covering all their best songs since 1978. Christian Arnheiter has been the main guy/guitarist/vocalist in this band since their inception, inspired by seeing the SEX PISTOLS in Texas in 1978.

The HATES' first 3 7" records have a bit of a slower sound than the rest of their releases. Don't confuse that with not as high quality. Those records still sound great and they cover several of those songs on this disc, only faster. In fact, if you get a chance to see them live (they rarely play outside of Houston, their home town. I was privileged to organize, all by e-mail, their first tour of more than two gigs, a ten city tour in 2004 to and through California. Be sure to never miss them live given the opportunity.)

They've gone through a number of bassists and drummers over the years. Don't matter, whoever is in the band they crank it out with pure heart. And it's the songs that drive it with Christian keeping the band alive these 27 or so years.

I was just a massive HATES fan since first hearing their 7"s in the late 70's and was blown away when I finally saw them live in 2004 particularly given that they covered most of their old songs, virtually all are hits, but played them faster! Hot doggie.

This album has 22 songs and an interview. They do a marvelous punk cover of that old country song, '(goin' back to) Houston'. As with many bands, the voice just makes this band along with the strong songwriting.

Buy this immediately. Also get their Contamination CD which has their best records: the first 3 7"s, their 12" remastered to sound brilliant like it should have when first released and the incredible 1991 New World Oi! 15 song tape release with more classic punk rock songs.
