REAL COUNTRY BOY BLUES
Melinda K. Ramson | LAFAYETTE, LA. United States | 08/13/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"THIS IS AN EXCELLENT STYLE OF BLUES PLAYING BY BIG DADDY HYPOLITE! MY PREFERENCES ARE THE CREOLE FRENCH SONGS FROM COLINDA, IM A HOG FOR YOU, YOU USED TO CALL ME, AND HARRY'S OWN LOUISIANA COUNTRY BOY SONG. HIS DISTINCTIVE DOWN HOME BLUES VOICE MAKES THIS CD A MUST TO HAVE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE FROM LOUISIANA TO LOVE THIS ONE. I HAVE PEOPLE FROM THE NORTH CRAZY ABOUT THIS ALREADY, SO HARRY IS BEING HEARD ALL OVER. I CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM AT THE ZYDECO FESTIVAL ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, WITH HIS BIG SMILE AND BEHIND THE BACK MOVES WITH HIS GUITAR. HARRY CAN ALSO BE HEARD ON CJ CHENIER'S CD, LET ME IN YOUR HEART. HE PLAYS GUITAR ON THE ENTIRE CD AND SOLO'S ON THE SONG, BIG MAMA BLUES. WHEN YOU THINK OF LOUISIANA BLUES, THIS IS IT!"
Harry " Big Daddy " Hypolite - Best Creole Bluesman Ever
Paul J. Broussard Jr. | Youngsville, Louisiana | 06/24/2006

"If you are wanting some hip shakin' low down dirty blues, you are looking for this CD! I remember him for his big smile and his big hands when he shook your hand, what a man! His blues is one of a kind, and was one of the Best Bluesmen from Louisiana. I would see him when he was with C.J. Chenier and he would perform a few songs to start the show and what a show it was! He was so humble and never received the recognition he deserves! When he was sitting in with Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas, which is a relative of Nathan Williams , at the fabulous zydeco and blues club,"El Sido's" in Lafayette Louisiana, he politely shook my hand as i started speaking to him in french, he loved it. I love the creole french mixture in some of his songs, he is one of a kind and will always be remembered by me for his great smile, not to mention his excellent guitar playing and strong vocals! This is a great CD and you wont regret it!!!!! He is very much missed by his family, relatives, and blues and zydeco fans. He may be gone, but not forgotten!"
