This CD features two 'live' 'One Night Stand' 260 and 336 performances by the great Harry James and His Music Makers. The first being from the Roof Garden, Astor Hotel, New York City, June 5th, 1944 and secondly from the Casino Gardens, Ocean Park CA, August 12th, 1944. This was one of Harry's finest bands and harks back to a time in big band history, when the music was at the height of its popularity and bands like Harry's could afford to include a string section and several musicians of note including Juan Tizol and Corky Corcoran. It is also worth noting that on the second concert Harry had previously sustained an injury whilst playing baseball and his place on a number of tracks is taken by Tommy Dorsey.
