80's synthesizers rock!
Robert | Syracuse, New York | 07/28/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I saw "The Running Man" when I was a mere 11 years old back in the late great year of 1987. 1987 was a strange year; Wall Street was hit with a crash, it had become apparent that the unbridled greed had consequences, government was not as benovolent as kids like me thought. Movies like "The Running Man" and "Robocop" showed the cynical view of Corporate America and government gone wild. The music reflects this cynicism. Faltermeyer's soundtrack is a great example of late 80's synthesizers and electronica. Written with atmosphere and mood in mind, this music is highly appropriate. The introductory theme is one that is hard to forget, as it conveys a feeling of a doomed America that sold itself out in the name of ratings. It echoes throughout the soundtrack, conveying the dark mood of the movie. Other pieces are innovative, like the modified "Valkyrie" for Dynamo, obviously based on Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries". Captain Freedom's Workout gives a peppy feelin of burnin calories with The Mind- I mean- Jesse "The Body" Ventura! If this soundtrack is still available, pick it up if you're in the mood for some dark moody electronic movie music. It is well worth it. Maybe you'll even start a revolution:)"
We want the rock though!

"Great film and great music, but where is the closing track by John Parr (Restless Heart)? Now that's a classic hit and should certainly be included on this album."
Where is John Parr's RESTLESS HEART?

"I remember when this soundtrack came out on vynil, and merchants could not sell it because it did not have the end theme "Restless Heart/Running away with you". That was/is the whole point of buying this sountrack. And the fact that John Parr's "Man with a vsion" CD that has this track being out of print is even more annoying. Is it too much to ask that a future edition has the track Restless Heart or that "Man with a Vision" becomes available again?"
