CD Reviews

Almost as nice as a Mercedes C-230 car!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Well, Happy Louie and band have made a clear and important impact on the Polka music industry. They combine the ever-popular Polka with the refreshing style of Latin music. The brass and woodwinds really come together to create a full ensemble sound. This actually reminds me slightly of the Rooks Brothers. Kris and Robby Rooks, along with Timmy C, were an opening act in the Atlantic City nightclub scene during the 1950s. Though popular at the time, they never made it to the big spotlight in Vegas. I give this CD 4 of 5 stars for the innovation of the Latin-Polka style. It's not quite 5 stars due to the sound quality of the CD. But, for a new comer to the classic Polka style, it's a must have."
Almost as good as my grandmother's Victrola

"This CD sounds as though it were recorded on a cheap home tape recorder, using a single ten-dollar microphone placed somewhere in the general vicinity of the band. The sound quality is so bad that I cannot tell whether I would have liked the artist, had he gone to a professional recording studio. I suspect that, even then, I would find the sound excessively whiney. There is absolutely no stereo effect, either. This is one to avoid."
