This isn't math rock

"This isn't math rock unless math rock means "sometimes plays in 3/4 instead of 4/4." I typically associate the math-rock monniker with bands such as Rodan, Slint, Polvo, and hal al Shedad contemporaries like the Purkinje Shift. This style is what kids used to call "emo," but that was before emo meant supplicating adult contemporary played with distortion. Without attempting to typecast the h.a.s., this is just a well-written rock record. You can detect an early Sabbath and Bowie influence, but you'll hear more of a DC punk influence than anything else."
