Wonderful Inspirational Harmony

"This couple sings many wonderful hymns that are easy to sing with. Their harmony is unbelievable. This is a "must have" for anyone that enjoys well-loved hymns."
Fun time warp...

"Many, many (many), moons ago, my parents had a particular 8-Track album that I just loved to play. I had never heard of the singers, Guy and Ralna, although I suppose I had seen them on "The Lawrence Welk Show", a staple in our house. The album was a collection of religious songs, but who cared? The cassette was a bright neon blue color, and I loved to put on our giant headphones and sing along with the artists (I particularly liked "Church in the Wildwood"), right through the inescapable "ka-CHUNK!" of the 8-Track skipping to the next track in mid-song. "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", "How Great Thou Art", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Whispering Hope", and the kids favorite, "Put Your Hand in the Hand", just sounded so mellow and yet so fun that I didn't care or even notice the religious elements. The music wasn't pushy, and was just so nice to sing along to. After a recent trip home, I came across that same, battered, blue, 8-Track cassette, and decided to look online to see if the album had made the migration to CD. Unfortunately, the album does not exist in that format yet, but this particular collection has just about all of the same songs, so I went ahead and bought a copy.Beyond the fun nostagic trip of hearing these songs again, one is also aware of the nostalgia of simpler times. There's an almost naiive goofiness in an album like this (at least post 9-11), which is evident not only in Guy and Ralna's hairstyles, but in the almost artificial purity of every note they sing. It calls to mind the days of The Carpenters, Captain and Tennille, Donny and Marie, The Osmonds, and all of their contemporaries. And the "Lawrence Welk Show", of course. The songs still sound great, and are light enough not to be oppressive or "preachy"; just some Believers singin' their hearts out, and you can't fault that."

"THIS CD IS VERY GOOD AND THE SONGS ARE DONE BEAUTIFULY! THE SOUND ISN'T AS GOOD BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THIS ALBUMN. I HAPPEN TO LOVE THIS CD AND ALSO OWN A CASSETTE OF IT. BUY IT! YOU WILL GET GREAT JOY FROM HEARING IT."
