"The Cocoanut Grove series was made from rented large record disks; radio stations would rent the privelege of one play only, then send the disk back. As a result, these disks are virtually mint, and with modern technology the sound quality is remarkable considering the era.Gus Arnheim's Orchestra reflects the era, as symphonic jazz became more orchestrated with a more sober sound brought on by the Depression. Soloist Loyce Whitman displays her exceptional voice, as do the male soloists and The Three Ambassadors trio (similar to the Rhythm boys of Paul Whitman).If you enjoy vintage music from this era, you will love this CD."
