"This is a combination of songs, from folk to samba and bossa nova, as done by "Grupo Bahia". Some of the songs include original Antonio Carlos Jobim compositions and music by members of this band. The musicians and writers are from three different countries and continents. One hails from Chile, another from Egypt and the final from Germany. This isn't a bad release. For whatever reason I really liked how light this cd is. Granted none of the remakes to the Jobim compositions will make you forget the originals but I still found them enjoyable - perfect background music. Gentle flute, nice guitar and solid sound effects. The tunes are cool with a traditional feeling and it's warm. This is great summer time, lounging around on a day off music. I dug the original compositions including the remakes to One Note Samba and Girl from Ipanema, although they won't make you forget the originals. Having said that, the sound quality was not very good. I'd actually label it a step below the Gold Collection's series. And of the remakes, I didn't care for the one of George Benson's classic tune. I'd recommend it for the price. I picked it up a bit cheaper than here but I still enjoy the music. It's a different take on folk and samba tracks. But again this isn't of the highest sound quality so don't expect something along the lines of Morelenbaum/Sakamoto or one of Verve's best remastered products."
