CD ReviewsOutstanding Dan Lewis | 01/15/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Musicianship is awesome. Arrangements and composition are solid. They are definitely always in the pocket. Funky soul, porch jamming, get-up-and-go. A must have for any collection." Great live too! Cathy | Orlando, FL | 12/16/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "These guys are laid back - funky - and full of soul. If you get a chance to see them live - go for it... great music and they're funny as hell too!" Dirty funk + soul = Greyhounds The Dubs | 10/28/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "These guys are without question my favorite band to come out in the last five years, probably longer. I first heard of them in an interview with Stanton Moore. He mentioned that he was producing their record, so I knew they weren't slackers. I saw them at a festival up north (10,000 Lakes Fest) where it rained during their whole set. Anthony (keys) had to get under a tarp so his gear wouldn't get wet. Putting setbacks aside, they absolutely ripped the place to shreds. They had the whole place movin' by the end of the set. I had the chance to meet Anthony (keys, vocals) and Andrew (guitars, harp, vocals) at different points during the weekend and they were both really cool and unbelievably gracious. They were camping out too!
Back to the album. It is eerily close to perfect. I don't throw the term "favorite album" around lightly, but I have told many different people that this was it. Highlights include "Yeah Yeah Yeah," "You're Gone," "Hot Sauce," "Black Hole," "It's All Over But the Shoutin," and "I Like." All the tracks mold so well together and they're all just so funky and soulful it's hard for anyone not to like this album. Stanton Moore and Robert Mercurio of Galactic do an awesome job on the production end as well. I would highly recommend this album for any fan of Galactic, Stanton Moore, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, and anyone else that loves a good groove. Just get this album!" |
