CD Reviews

The future of acid jazz
12/14/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Greyboy brings something that a lot of the "smooth" jazz artists don't: groove! No rap, no vocalists, just excellent beats & HAROLD TODD and KARL DENSON. If you enjoyed this like I did, check out GREYBOY ALLSTARS, GALACTIC, CORDUROY, SLIDE FIVE (Rhode Trip), and of course, GREYBOY (Freestylin'). This is definitely the future of acid jazz."
Great Funky Jazz With Hip-Hop Beats
Michael Strom | Chicago, IL USA | 02/06/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is just a tremendous album. Old school 70's-style accessible, funky jazz with tough, urban hip-hop beats. It doesn't sound old, but it doesn't sound so much new as it does different. You really don't need to like either jazz OR hip-hop to go for this. Funky enough to put anyone's backfield in motion, while intelligent and musical enough to reward the mind as well. Some music is a matter of taste, but I cannot imagine humans hearing this CD & not liking it, unless they suffer from serious neurological deficits. Absolutely essential."
Pretty good

"I came across Greyboy while finding music along the lines of Quantic. Greyboy is very impressive. Mixes jazz with dope lofi beats."
