CD Reviews

Something different
Andrew Estes | Maine | 07/04/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"First off, for all of the people who don't know, this is not Linkin Park. Grey Daze is a band that Chester Bennington of Linkin Park used to belong to before he left the band due to personal differences. A lot of the confusion can be attributed to the promotion of this album (I received mine in the mail with a sticker that said "Linkin Park - Grey Daze"), but the music on here is totally different from anything you will find on Hybrid Theory. And it is really amusing looking through the booklet seeing Chester with long hair. The music on here reminds me of mid-90's mainstream rock, similar to Stone Temple Pilots, but less agressive. If you like Linkin Park, you might like this, but be warned, Grey Daze is totally different and some people probably won't like them.A fun fact: The track "Anything, Anything" is a cover of a Drama Rama song which was featured in the movie, Nightmare on Elm Street 4."
Great Songs

"Grey Daze is a great band. Although the only reason I ever found out about them is because I am a diehard Linkin Park fan. Many people play this cd for their friends and then tell them that this cd is old Linkin Park stuff. In fact there is only one Linkin Park member in Grey Daze and that is lead singer Chester Bennington. Grey Daze was started by Chester and then best friend Scott Dowdell, but broke up because of song writing credits. This is a great cd nonetheless, songs like "in the eye" and "B12" are great songs, when I listen to them groups like STP and Radiohead come to mind. Beware though because these guys are not Linkin Park nor do they sound like Linkin Park. If you can get passed that and recognize Grey Daze as a group all their own then buy this cd. If you want rap/rock this may not be the cd for you."
Really good band

"I've actually had the pleasure of seeing them quite a few times while visiting Phoenix. We would actually hunt them down to hear them play. If you love a little punk and a little rock then this is your CD. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park was at one time lead singer for Grey Daze. It's along the lines of STP, so don't expect the rap/rock thing. Awesome drums, guitar and base make up a good combination. I actually have a signed photo of the band. I hate they didn't get the recognition that was deserved to them when Chester was with them. I think you'd enjoy it. My personal fave is B12!"
