This album, produced by the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific's Greatlanders Showband, is a gesture of gratitude for the outstanding support of the military in Alaska from the citizens of the United States. The United States Air Force Band of the Pacific is one of America's most effective musical ambassadors and one o f twelve United States Air Force Bands located throughout the world. Led by Lieutenant Colonel Steven Grimo, the Greatlanders Showband performs wonderfully on each selection of Midnight Sun. In addition, Freda Payne, guest female vocalist and renowned jazz performer, adds a healthy dose of sophistication and style to the Greatlanders on "Stompin' at the Savoy" and "Satin Doll". Entertainment is the mission of the Greatlanders, the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific's 13-piece jazz ensemble, and Midnight Sun is no exception.
