Synopsis

Product Description
GRAMMY, Dove, and Stellar Award winner Fred Hammond has been in the forefront of gospel music for over three amazing decades. The Detroit native began his journey as the bassist for legendary gospel group The Winans, founded the trendsetting sextet Commissioned as well as renowned group Radical for Christ and established himself as one of the industry's premier solo artists and producers. At this point in Hammond's musical evolution this visionary has assembled a stellar cast of musicians to form the creatively soulful jazz group Grandad Turner, which is scheduled to release their debut project on July 26, 2011. In memory of Hammond's grandfather who introduced him to and inspired his love of playing guitar, the group Grandad Turner consists of Hammond at the helm on bass, along with drummer Calvin Rodgers, keyboardist Phillip Feaster, guitarist Derek Horne and saxophonist Keith Anderson. The highly anticipated studio project "My Friends, My Fam" boasts of several songs dedicated to Hammond's friends as well as jazz giants such as Wayman Tisdale "Wayman, My Friend", Marcus Miller "Marcus My Dude" and George Duke "I Remember George" along with a vocal appearance by Frank McComb on "My Love Is For Real". "It's All About the Crusade", the first single from the forthcoming CD gives listeners a glimpse into the unmistakable musical creativity of Fred Hommond and is sure to capture the avid jazz enthusiast.
