CD Reviews'your tomb stares back at you...' (with a bonus) wrazor | Seattle, WA United States | 09/01/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "I first heard Gooseflesh (from Sweden) on the radio, of all places. Of course, it was 1:00 in the morning (During Seattle's 'Metal Shop' on 99.9 KISW) and I never heard it again, that is until I bought the album. I bought the domestic version without the bonus tracks, but I recommend this one highly as well. The more, the better. The track played on the radio was 'Burning Soul' and if you listen to it, you'll see why. I instantly fell in love with it. And as for the whole album, I would say the music is strong throughout, and the vocals are good (definitely not as intense as your average death metal band, but really, death metal Gooseflesh is not, although a few tracks get a decent growl going). There are some weak spots in the album (and in the name of the band itself, I think) and I think the best tracks are Burning Soul and Cut That Never Heals. They are all well done though. The guitar shriek on 'Cut That Never Heals' reminded me a little of Prong's 'Controller' from their album 'Rude Awakening', although I like 'Cut' much better. Actually there's a song on Chemical Garden called 'Controller', but it doesn't do anything to distinguish itself from the others. Overall though I would definitely recommend this album, so if you're thinking about it, do yourself a favor and pick this one up. I don't think you'll regret it. And if you do regret it, then maybe musically it's just that 'you're doomed, while your tomb stares back at you...'"
