"... the world enjoyed the genius of Goober and the Peas. The studio recordings never matched the energy of their live performances, which for my money, still rank among the best shows I've ever seen. I saw them quite by accident at the Khyber Pass, in Philadelphia, on a night when the Rev. Horton Heat failed to show up due to car trouble. Goober and the boys were hanging out following a gig at another club, and when they learned that the Rev. was a no-show, Goober bribed the club honchos to let them play. Out of nowhere, this band of urban cowpokes took the stage, and with a burst of electric guitar and fistfuls of hay, these blokes blew the room away with their signature tune, "Funky Funky Cowboy!" What a night. Buy the CD and pray for the reunion tour."
One of my personal favorites

"If you're still looking for this album, you should spend the $25 bucks or whatever the fool who wants to sell their copy is asking for it. As soon as I heard these guys and moshed while they kicked hay at the crowd at MSU's Erickson Kiva, I was hooked. Their shows were incredible. Dan Miller's new band Blanche is great, strange, and entertaining as well. Check them out. I never tire of this or the Complete Works. Brilliance."
Yay or Nay?

"Either this is genius or the biggest load of crap i've ever heard! In the meantime though, because I like it a LOT, I will give this 5 stars."
I am starting to tear up

"This is perhaps the greatest CD in my collection of 500+. Just like Ol' Goob sittin' on his rockin' chair, some of these songs just bring out the tears of emotion & joy. A live appearance by Goob & His Peas would never disppoint. It was truly a sad day when we learned of their demise that fateful night at Rick's in East Lansing. These geniuses (margin of error +- 66%) were way before their time and their "influence" can be heard in the music of BR-549 and Cake. I am not sure what happened to cause them to break up, but they certainly never got their just due. As danzig2@hotmail.com so eloquently put it, they were the best. I particularly respected the guitarist Junior. This was a true gentleman like no other. Whenever the Peas would need a new drummer (which happened about once a month or so) he would file Guardianship papers to take these often under-age phenoms on the road. I also owe the discovery of my chronic psoriasis of the scalp to them. Cheers Ol' Goob, wherever you are! (make sure to check out The Complete Works of Goober & The Peas and the very special limited edition Christmas album they have as well)"
Aren't enough stars in the sky for ol' Goob & the boys!

"I followed the career of Detroit Municipal Recording's Artists of the Decade . . . Goober & The Peas . . . from the first day I had the pleasure of hearing their urban beat prophocy -- Funky Cowboy (Hillbilly Remix) -- in East Lansing, MI. From 1992 to their eventual breakup (rumored to be over the custody & care of the "Mallard") one fateful night between shows in Detroit and East Lansing (Michigan), Goober and his Peas strummed an ecletic musical brand of urban beat punk powered rockabilly with a dash of swinging lounge to get your toes a tappin'. Pity the souls that were not able to experience a live show of these performing artists. Their comedic timing was exemplified with verbal exchanges before & after songs on their CDs making each conversation a part of my life forever. Goober & The Peas were definitely the best band that no one had ever heard of -- especially the hilarious power punch of their live shows . . . Ricks (East Lansing), Blind Pig (Ann Arbor), Pine Knob(Detroit), The Taste of Chicago, etc."
