"The Godz are the epitome of rock-n-roll. Yes their name should be listed right next to the definition in Webster's. This cd is basically the first album (The Godz) and the entire second album (Nothing Is Sacred)minus two songs{Festyvul Seasun and Snakin}.The Godz anthology is as follows: vinyl The Godz ,The Godz, Nothing Is Sacred, I'll Get You Rockin, Mongolians. CDS- this one Power Rock and The Godz Greatest Hits Live. Related projects are Pre Godz Capitol City Rockets w/ Eric Moore and Bob Hill and post Godz Rosie, a Mark Chatfield band. The Godz basically came out of "Cowtown" ie Columbus, Ohio in 1976. The band cosisted of Hayward Law,Mike Adams,Eric Moore,Glen Cataline and Mark Chatfield. A terrible accident in a dune buggy took the lives of Hayward Law and Mike Adams. At this time Bob Hill was asked help rebuild the band. This became the famous Godz lineup. Bob Hill then left the band around late 1979 and the band ent on breifly a three piece unit until disbanding for some reasons outside their control and some that were in there control. Eric then brought back a Godz project with Buddy Toth and Gino Harrison on guitar and Glen still on drums. Mark Chatfield was with his band Rosie and then Bob Seger. Gino was replaced by Jeff Parker before this project was dissolved. This lineup didn't record but did write new material. The next project was with Eric Moore teaming up with Freddie Salem,Steve Schufert and Sandy Gennaro. This was at the time called Freddie Salem and the Wildcats, however this would soon evolve into a new Godz lineup with Jimmy Clark replacing Sandy Gennaro on drums. This lineup would record the "I'll Get You Rockin" album. Mark Chatfield then returned and Jimmy Clark was replaced by Kevin Valentine on drums. This lineup would rework and add some tunes to the "I'll Get You Rockin" album and put out the Mongolians album. This is one [great]album!!! Freddie would leave to do a Outlaws reunion tour, so Joe Joe Weekend would enter on guitar. This lineup would dissolve as Mark left once again. Eric would go out as the Eric Moore Band slash the Godz with Joe Joe Weekend and Mike Strikes. This would then giveway to a new Godz lineup in the 90's with Ty Beebe,Matt Mees, and Erik Mauk. This lineup would exist till the later 90's and to the Godz reunion concerts in March of 1995. Erik Mauk would sit in for Bob Hill who supposedly was not interested in the reunion shows. These shows would relase the Godz Greatest Hits Live cd. Now Eric is back with some guys from Akron Ohio doing new and old Godz material along with old Eric Moore Band material. Watch for a new "25 More years of Eric Moore nad the Godz " cd in the summer of 2003. Where are they now? Mark Chatfield is living in Las Vegas running his Cowtown Guitar store. Glen is a high ranking bank official in Columbus...For those looking for any Godz items ;rare live audio and vidoe shows or vinyl, cds, or related bands items...[]"

"Made in GER in 1997, Serial# BR-115, Playing Time 72:28Not to be confused with the late 1960's band featuring guitarist Jim McCarthy (later of CACTUS fame), this quartet was formed in the late 70's.Included on this disc are all 7 tracks from their debut album, 1978's "The Godz", produced by GRAND FUNK's drummer Don Brewer; also included on this disc are 8 (yes, there are 15 tracks, not 14 as listed on the CDs back panel) of the 10 tracks from their second effort, 1979's "Nothing Is Sacred", produced by GODZ' bassist Eric Moore. Omitted are "Festyvul Seasun" and "Snakin'".Sounding terribly out-dated even in those days, their first album presents in-your-face rock (a bit like a blend of SLADE and STATUS QUO), with good guitar work; their second album saw a more commercial attempt, with some much weaker material, and even some outright poor arrangements: track 15, "I Don't Wanna Go Home", clearly demonstrates my point.Still, there's some good stuff on this set, including an interesting rendition of GOLDEN EARRING's "Candy's Going Bad". Nothing original overall, but perhaps worthwhile to those nostalgic of the late 70's..."

"no, the Godz weren't trying to break new ground here!!! however,
if you never saw this band live, then you could never truly appreciate what the Godz were all about!!! Eric Moore is what rock n roll is all about,Mark Chatfield has to be the most underrated, unnoticed guitar player of his time, and Glen Cataline and Bob Hill were solid players that added considerably to this band.Yes THE GODZ album is the best of their studio material.Nothin is Sacred didn't do justice to these songs in the studio as these songs were killer live.I'll Get You Rockin
is good and this album was better remixed and put out as MONGOLIANS. Definitely attempt to get the Greatest Hits Live cd.
Or better yet, track down bootleg tapes of their live performances, then you'll really understand what the rock and roll machines were about.p.s. if you like this music, try tracking down Chatfield's band after the Godz, ROSIE. Some more
great guitar playing from Mark Chatfield, unfortunately he gets little space with Bob Seger!!!!"
Old-School, straight ahead Rock-N-Roll

"In order to appreciate this music you have to know a few things:
1) The music for this album was written in the 70's, so expect an old-school classic rock sound.
2) The sound mix is straight and clear, not overproduced with tons of effects or choir-like backup vocals.
3) The band, especially their leader Eric Moore, were real, full-blooded, 100% Rock-N-Rollers who have stayed true to their hard-working Columbus, Ohio roots. They were not some flashy, Ziggy Stardust glam-posers with desk jobs who decided to record their garage music.
This music is straight-ahead, pure Rock-N-Roll. The lead vocalist and bassist, Eric Moore, has a low, raspy voice that suits the attitude of the band. Being a bassist myself I can appreciate the bass lines. Most of them are driving yet melodic with a nice feel by themselves. You can tell Eric was influenced by some of the better bassists of the early 70's. Overall, the band is not technically cutting edge (ala Dream Theater or Rush), but they are solid and tight. Another reviewer said guitarist Mark Chatfield is "not impressive". Well, I cannot agree. Mark's leads are melodic and tasteful. While he is certainly not up to the ranks of 70's guitar heroes Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page, his playing is quality and is a perfect fit for the music. Consider the fact that most guitarists in today's popular rock bands can't even PLAY a lead and you'll appreciate his licks even more.
"Gotta Keep A Runnin" was one of my all-time favorite songs when I was growing up. Awesome tune, period. "Under the Table" is sung by Chatfield and is my second-favorite on the album. "Go Away", "Guaranteed", and "714" are excellent songs as well.
I have this on vinyl and I've been looking for this on CD for years. If you like classic, ageless, real Rock-N-Roll this album is a must.

"I Bought The Album(record, not CD)After My Little brother Kept Ranting And Raving About This New Band, He Had Heard On A Radio Station Out Of San Antonio.A Station He Could Get if The weather Was Good.Gotta Keep A Runnin Was The Song The Station Was Playing. If For No Other Reason, Buy This CD for That Song. If You Grew Up In The Last Days Of "Acid Rock" As I Did, Gotta Keep A Runnin will Strike A Nerve And Bring The memories Back.On A Whole,The Entire Album Is Very Good. My Brother And I Still Enjoy It Today."
