CD Reviews

Scott Walker and Lou Reed rolled into one!

"This guy is unbelievable! Glyn Styler deserves to be a huge star - one listen to his instant classic You Killed My Love and you realize what's wrong with today's pop singers. This is high drama!"
Awesome

"Just wanted to add one more positive review here since too few people on Earth have heard of Glyn Styler. I first heard of him because he was featured on Egg the Arts Show and I thought, geez, that guy seems amazing, so I bought both his EPs, and guess what - he is totally amazing. This EP is the truly essential one, but of course, if you love the guy, you're gonna want the other one too given that the two EPs comprise his entire oeuvre. (He was also in the movie Satan Was A Lady by Doris Wishman, which I have seen. I like Doris Wishman's older work - Nude on the Moon, for instance, is hilarious. Satan Was a Lady is just plain bad, except for Glyn Styler's role in it, which made it worth seeing for me.)

According to someone's blog, Glyn is alive and well and selling mattresses. I hope one of these days he comes out with an LP. And for his sake, I hope he gains the recognition he deserves, although it's fine with me if I remain one of the lucky few who recognizes his genius. Anyway, Glyn Styler is one of the people I proselytize to my friends about, and I have certainly made at least one hardcore convert among them.

Certainly the Scott Walker comparison is apt, as would be Nick Cave. But really he's just a hard-edged, sadsack crooner. He was perfect for me in a period when I needed to laugh at myself feeling sorry for myself, but now that I'm through that period, I still love the hell out of him. So for God's sake, Glyn, make a full-length album! Your fans are impatient."
Lounge Music Revival!

"This is not your parents lounge music... Mr. Styler delivers with more angst and anger than your average punk rocker! Worth listening to, again, and again, and again..."
