CD Reviews

Achingly long songs.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This record is unbelievable. Fantastic musicianship and heart-breaking vocals. Chris's lyrics are deeply reflective, and simple in an honest schoolboy kind of way. But then he pops up with something so poetically twisted you want to hear him say it again and again. Excellent drummer: that crazy jam at the end of "Grain Towers, Telephone Poles" (fantastic timing on the ride) is out of hand, and definately a high point. The Gloria Record is like a love song you know isn't written for you, but are inexorably enamored by it nonetheless, and pulled in for a kiss that will smash your heart like so many school windows."
Everyone has heard of mineral

"but not everybody has heard of these guys, even though they do have two of minerals old members. anyone who liked ES (by mieral) will like this album too, although it is much more dreamy and creative than the aforementioned album. the textures are rich throughout and the music is well put together and polished, though it (luckily) doesn't have the over-produced feel that many of the good emo bands have taken as they became more popular. if you are more into the yelling aspect of mineral, your money would probably be spent better elsewhere, but if you would prefer more subdued singing and more experimental music (which showcases how good the band really is, rather than sticking to pseudo-poppy riffs to keep people interested), then you may like this album even better than ES."

"Having been absolutly in love with mineral for over a year, and finding out that the band was no longer in existance, i was ecstatic to find a band almost exactly the same as Mineral.(mineral being five star, the Gloria Record is up and running close with four.) upon recieving the cd, i have hardly gone a day without listening to it. There's about seven tracks on it two or three of which are instrumental. very beautiful and melodic emo. I am a fan of music, I listen to all sorts but am very particular about what it is that i think is "good." this is definitely an all time favorite. very inspired band."
