Synopsis

Global Communication are two Englishmen (Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton) who have been very involved in the electronic music scene in the U.K. Specializing in the ambient/environmental genre, they make extremely gentle, organic music. Pentamerous Metamorphosis is a "retranslation" of an album by Chapterhouse called Blood Music that has only been available as a promotional item in England (until now). So, what we have here is a remix of a dance-pop album originally recorded by a bunch of shoe-gazers back in 1994. Interestingly, the document amplifies the lush melodies of Chapterhouse's conventional rock record and turns it into a thing of rare beauty. Eliminating most of the band's vocal tracks and de-emphasizing guitars in favor of shimmering keyboards and aquatic-sounding synthesizers, this is quality ambient music. --Mitch Myers

A Classic

"An outstanding album. Ambient music at it's best. "Epsilon Phase" is one of the most moving pieces of music I have ever heard. This album is ambient at it's best. It needs to be re-released."
Don't call this a remix

"Okay, I love the whole dj culture techno thing. Remixing in a lot of ways has made music very exciting again. But regardless of who the future DJ's are and what they do with remixes, it will almost take an act of God to top Pentamerous Metamorphosis. I mean, these two guys take themes from a crap Manchester sound record and make a contemporary electronic symphony out of it. The whole thing might not be the most original piece of music in the world. It owes debts to Tangerine Dream, Vangelis and This Mortal Coil. But it still acts as a great reprsentation of how dynamic, emotional and moving good electronic music can be. Especially important in this day and age of techno where things are a bit too focused on the dancefloor. I mean, how many dance records hold up to repeat listenings at home? end kdc"
One of my favorite ambient albums...

"Global Communications just go it right on this one. This is a perfect mix of floating ambient with a bit of a slow deep electronic beat in it.. I would not be surprised to meet the band members; Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton in a party with Brian Eno. If you like ambient, then you definitely need to invest in this album."
