This is the third in our series of the various incarnations of the Glenn Miller Orchestras playing music composed by the great composers of the twentieth century. This time it is the turn of songsmiths Hoagy Carmichael and Vincent Youmans, both of whom contributed song books of major significance. The performances on this CD cover the period from 1939 when the civilian orchestra was at its zenith and subsequently The Army Air Forces Overseas Orchestra through to the period when Glenn's old saxophonist and vocalist, Tex Beneke, picked up the baton and took over the leadership of the orchestra.
