"The Maccari-Pugliese Duo is well known for their many fine recordings of 19th century guitar duo music. This is their first outing where they work in tandem as a pair of soloists, alternating and sharing some of the greatest works by one of the finest, in not the finest, guitarist composer of the 19th century. Both musicians have done their research and play with a great sense of the Bel Canto style using appropriate instruments (Pons, Guadagnini, etc) and gut strings. Yet, there is nothing academic about their playing. Their styles as individuals compliment each other and make for some contrast and variety. If you know Giuliani's music you will probably find much new to appreciate. If you don't know Giuliani, there is no better place to start than right here."
