Pianist Walter Gieseking gives rare live studio performances recorded in Cologne of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 conducted by Joseph Keilberth from 1953, and Schumann's Piano Concerto under Günter Wand taped in Essen, 1951. He is accompanied by the Kölner Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester on both recordings, which have been remastered from the original WDR master tapes in excellent sound. We also hear works by Debussy, Ravel and Bach from the Stockholm Concert Hall in 1948. These pieces, sourced from the Swedish Radio, have never been issued before.
