CD Reviews

Potential bluegrass CD of the year nominee; it's THAT good!
03/04/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Another Night Of Waiting," the latest effort from The Gibson Brothers is even better than their earlier solid efforts. The five songs penned by brothers Eric and Leigh Gibson are excellent; the other eight cuts show the band has an equally good ear for selecting music which fits their vocal style and instrumentation. Junior Barber contributes rock solid dobro work and his son Mike Barber glues it all together with some great bass work. The awards and accolades The Gibson Brothers are beginning to receive are but a hint of great things to come. I caught two of their three sets at this past weekend's Wintergrass Bluegrass Festival in Tacoma, WA and this foursome wow'ed the crowd with their close Everly Brothers-like harmony and great picking.Instrumentation on this album (guitar, banjo, dobro, and bass) is augmented by additional mandolin, fiddle, and backup vocal work from no less than Roland White, Mike Compton, Aubrey Haynie, and CD producer Alan O'Bryant. This is simply one fine album and certainly has to be early contender for nomination as bluegrass CD of the year."
The real deal

"These guys have traditional, to-the-gut bluegrass down ("Another Night") and yet still maintain a sense of humor ("City Water") while we are crying in our beer, or rootbeer, or whatever. Love these guys. The best!"
Now that is Bluegrass!

"These boys do a terrific job . The chording and instrumentals are kept light so that you don't loose the sound of the terrific harmonising between Eric and Leigh. This is a cd that I listen to almost daily and love to sing along with. Bluegrass at it's best."
