This in-concert performance, introduced by Alan Jackson, is actually the soundtrack of the long-available Jones concert video Live in Tennessee, taped in Knoxville in the early 1990s. Jones, newly signed to MCA at the time, performs a muscular, vigorous set heavy on hits from his 1972-1991 Epic period and adds his MCA single, the maternal tribute "She Loved a Lot in Her Time." He reaches back further for his 1963 hit "The Race Is On" and a ballad medley mixing "The Grand Tour" with earlier material. Lest there be any question as to the era, while introducing "A Picture of Me (Without You)," he mentions Lorrie Morgan's "recent" 1991 hit remake. While Live with the Possum is an excellent document of early-'90s Jones, a question remains: having arisen Lazarus-like, voice intact after his near-fatal SUV accident in March 1999, why didn't Asylum record the later, triumphant George Jones in concert? --Rich Kienzle Similar CDsSimilarly Requested CDs

In fact, when he discusses "A Picture of Me (Without You)", he states Lorrie Morgan remade it in 1992. So, the concert could not have been recorded earlier than 1992. Anyway, this record is great. One of George's best yet. His biggest hits are here including my all-time favorite (and I'm sure many of yours) "He Stopped Loving Her Today". All performed Live On Stage, George Jones in the elements that suit him best." He can sing the phone book, for all I care, and I'd still want him to win a Grammy for it. Although I like some older country: Hank Sr, Patsy, Waylon etc, I prefer 90s and later country: George Strait, Toby Keith, Tracy Lawrence, Sherrie Austin etc. I decided to purchase this CD, because I happen to like a couple of songs: "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" (A very fitting song for today), "No Show Jones", and "The Corvette Song". I fell in love with the ENTIRE CD, there is not even ONE medocre song on it. It is actually better then "For The Last Time Live From The Houston Astrodome" (George Strait), and as a Strait completist, that is a major statement. This CD is very hard to get, but it is worth it: RUN out and get it, if you are new to Jones (Like me), or are a long time fan, you will love it."
