CD Reviews

Beautiful music
03/01/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you like Greek music (and even if you don't) you will love this disc. Unlike many of Dalaras' other albums it is very modern sounding but has a Middle Eastern feel. Dalaras has a beautiful voice that compliments his songs. On this disc there is a duet with Babis Stokas (from Pyx Lax) and a duet with Sting (half in English, half in Greek). The c.d. includes lyrics in English and Greek (the Greek being in Greek letters) except for the one Spanish song. The song names are: Mad about you--Trelos yia sena, I'll seek you out, the Overcoat, the Old Soldier, Flying Carpet, I've Never Seen You, One night at Elliniko, And It's Raining Out There, Drunken Boat, Hidden keys, The Ghosts, Flower, Brown Eyes, In a Stranger's dream, the Running Roads, and Hasta Siempre. Almost all the songs are in Greek, but it is good music even if you don't know Greek. If you're looking for a c.d. to start you off on Greek music, this is it. If you want more of a laika/rebetika feel, try to get Dalaras' wonderful "The Colours of Time I" ("Ta khromata tou khronou"). Buy this album!"
