Pam's review of Pitney's Blue Angel:The Bronze Sessions
Pamela A Swinney | Martinsville, Indiana United States | 11/05/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've heard Pitney sing songs from every decade since I've been born. It's amazing how he fits each one. I love his voice on whatever song he is singing. My favorites of this Blue Angel album are "Morning in April" and "You're the Reason". Again, he is the epitomy of a singing voice. My whole family and I have enjoyed his music and I love this CD. It's a must for your Pitney collection. Gene Pitney is and always will be one of the best!"
Disappointing Gene

"Being a big Gene Pitney fan, and not having heard of "The Bronze Sessions" before, I was looking forward to something very special.

Bronze indeed. They wouldn't dare have labeled this Gold or even Silver. How about "white metal sessions"? Unfortunately, there was a reason I'd not heard of it. These are mostly mediocre recordings without the punch of most other Gene Pitney songs. Wimpy arrangements engulf the sound here without the benefit of the lush orchestrations and emotion that are generally present for Gene. I listened to it once and then filed it away probably never to be heard again. If you MUST have this CD to fill out a collection, by all means order it. Otherwise, I would fast forward to something by this artist that you really want."
Great!

"This is a wonderful double CD! I only wish I had heard of these songs back when he had actually recorded them. The cover versions are pitch perfect and the original "Soon" is a blast that should have been a mega-hit.
