CD Reviews

Get Down...
D. S. HARDEN | L.A.,CA USA | 02/15/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I mistakenly had bought "Little Beaverss" CD with "Get Down" on it. Although I liked the song, it's not even in the same ballpark with Gene Chandler's song. I had forgotten all about this man, and only stumbled into "Get Down" when [...] Needless to say, within 8 hours after hearing "Get Down" at home, I made a beeline for the office (yes, I had work to do!) and ordered my copy.

Even though it's not remastered, it still has a good sound and the price is right! (10$US). "Get Down" on this disc is approx. 8:18. That's right! Over 8 minutes for one of his best known songs (12-inch version). Join me and get a copy and relive (at least part) of 1979!!

For the uninitiated, Gene Chandler was the man that did the song "Duke of Earl" that topped the charts in 1962!!"
I'll Make the Living makes this worthwhile!
Steve Hood | London, England | 06/24/2004

"Worth it just for "I'll Make the Living", a UK soul anthem, others obviously include "Friend" and "Get Down"."
