Gate 9 are a Norwegian band who play a mixture of groovy stoner rock and heavier Doom metal influenced stuff. The singer has a very interesting voice and uses his range well. There is a nice spacey feel on parts of the opening number before the crushing Candlemass-like riff hits you. Indeed, many of their songs start with a slow doom riff or funky groove and then develop throughout the song and go off into different territory before coming back to where they started. This is a heck of a debut CD with a lot of good melodies and heavy songs. Underdogma. 2005.
