Synopsis

Product Description
Gandalf Murphy & The Slambovian Circus of Dreams third studio album, "THE GREAT UNRAVEL" has their trademark 'punk-classical hillbilly-floyd' brand of folk-rock, with a hefty dose of sixties psychedelia running through it all. (ie: The Great Unravel, Pushin' Up Daisies, Clear Channel, Summer's Day). Opener 'Desire' gets down to business right out of the gate, a preamble that rails against 'the man' in the tradition of responsible folk guru. With that done, the fun begins. Not wanting to neglect their Celtic roots, the band called on renowned uilleann pipemaker Seth Gallagher, (who sits in with The Chieftains occasionally and builds pipes for the luminaries of traditional Celtic music). His playing adds a supernatural dimension to the album's hauntingly beautiful love song, 'Tink'...

Blown Away

"Wow. I have about 1,300 albums and just picked up this album along with Flapjacks yesterday evening while hearing these guys for the first time in Cold Spring on the Hudson with my kids. I only got to hear three songs, but man am I glad I picked up three discs on the way out. I'm absolutely blown away how good these guys are and I don't know how the hell I haven't found them until now. Instantly in my desert Isle collection already. I can't figure out who they sound like, but it's an absolutely fantastic rootsy sound that blends Dylan, the Byrds, Tom Rush, Hot Tuna, The Dead, The Allman's, Wide Spread Panic, Counting Crows, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Big Head Todd, Dave Mathews,Buffalo Springfield, Drivin' & Cryin' and CSN, to name a few. And I like the occasional Celtic flair. Ok, a crazy list, but trust me, when you listen, you'll throw a few more on the list. Coming across guys like this reminds me why music is so great. Can't wait to see them again. Get this, and your hooked. Enjoy.
