CD Reviews

Now this is a score worth owning.

"So I picked this up after previewing the "Slayers" track and the "Deathmatch" track on iTunes. Wow is all I can say.

First off, I'm not a Manson fan, but his cover of "Sweet Dreams" (the track heard in the trailers BTW) is amazing. Slow, daunting, yet full of life at the time. Great song. "The Bad Touch" is an oldie but a goodie.

Now for the score proper it starts off with "Deathmatch" and never stops. Amazing at every turn. I get the true feeling that I am stuck in a world that, while coherent and solid, is falling apart and will eventually eat itself alive. I get the sense of survival and desperation that I have never felt before from a soundtrack. There are moments where it is time to just give up ("The Prison Yard", "I Think You Do") and then there is a time to fight ("Slayers", "Gina Parker Smith", "Blood Ball"). not to mention the times when I get all of these emotions in the same track (mainly "Target Practice" and Turn Me Loose").

Not since the "Unleashed" soundtrack have I felt such a dichotomy of emotions in one track. This is a must buy if you want a score that will get your blood pumping, while still allowing you feel vulnerable.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I doubt it will live up to the quality and overall emotional feeling of the tracks on this album. The only song that is out of place is the Sammy Davis Jr. medley at the end, but even then it isn't terrible.

BUY THIS NOW!!!"
