CD Reviews

The bulk of the BEST game soundtrack EVER

"I fondly remember the times not too long ago when I would stay up until three the next morning playing Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast. The music was surprisingly well-produced and memorable. Even the menu theme, "Prenotion" (on the supplemental soundtrack, PSO Songs of Ragol Odyssey Ep. I & II), was catchy and supplemented the impressive art in the game very well. This CD includes the level themes, most of the boss themes, and the incredible intro and ending themes, the latter of which feature female vocalists for the game versions and the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra in the orchestra versions. Much of the music is ambient (exceptions being the opening/ending themes and boss themes like the intense "From seeing the rough wave"), and supplements the vast environments on Ragol (or any environment here on Earth) well. The instruments used help to give the soundtrack some depth and uniqueness. The sound producers over at Sega's WaveMaster used electronic synth sounds with traditional orchestral instruments, applying effects that blended the two exceptionally well. This fusion resulted in unique aural scenery that went hand in hand with the masterful landscapes of the game.To fully enjoy the music from both PSO installments, it is recommended that you also purchase Songs of Ragol Odyssey, which includes some of the system tracks like "Prenotion" and the serene internet lobby theme "Day dawns." But both are equally good, and will have you listening to not much else for quite a while."

"This is a very good album. If you have ever played Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast, then you already know the masterpieces achieved in this album. There are over 20 tracks of music for your enjoyment, so this will in your cd players for a while. Alot of it has it's own techno like feel, with a touch of classical on certain songs ("From seeing the rough wave" for example). This is an album not to be overlooked, and if you enjoy anime styled music, or are a fanatic for japanese orchestrated music, or even just a casual listener, this is a keeper!"
Just plain great music, and a little bonus

"I fell in love with PSO from the second my character 'piped' into the first stage. The music gets you caught up in the story and gameplay. Its dramatic when it has to be, and light and airy in just the right places. If you liked PSO at all, this is a must have."
