Synopsis

Album Description
"I Used To Be..." is an artfully captured collection of personal insights and reflections spanning Gail's songwriting archives of the past 18 years. Her compositions range from rock, to funk, to country, and pop in it's purest sense. The album, in addition to Gail's stellar vocal, guitar and bass performances features Catherine Russell from the Bowie band, The B-52's drummer Zach Alford (previously of David Bowie band) and a host of renowned musicians from Gail's Woodstock, NY community. "I Used to Be" features two collaborations between Gail Ann Dorsey and Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears: "Be My Angel" and "Whether You are the One."

CD Reviews

Look what the universe can do

"This stellar musician moves deftly between different genres and bestows upon each song alternately delicate and rocking touches.

The woman has mastered the tools of voice and bass and keeps pushing them to further degrees.

MS. Dorsey is one of those rare musicians who brings such depth and new life through vocals and bass guitar. Someone of this exceptional caliber gives justice to the notion of being "touched by God." Genius permeates her work at almost every step.

This accomplished disc is diverse and multifaceted with infinite textures to be enjoyed over and over again. The songs are rich and enduring.

Those of us who have followed her through the years (for me it was TFF through all the Bowie years) have been won over for some time. It's nice to see her shine all on her own."
Gail is amazing!

"I bought this record from the merch booth at the David Bowie tour and I LOVE IT! It has such a great vibe to it and Gail's music is so beautiful. "This Time" (track 2) is my favorite track. The song is so soothing and I play it in my car all the time on the way to work (and then bring the CD inside so I can listen at my desk). I definitely recommend this album to anyone who knows of Gail or has seen her at a Bowie show. Even if you haven't seen her yet, it is a GREAT buy."
