CD Reviews

Frost was the first Chicano rapper

"Frost has been called the Godfather of Latin hip-hop. Every chicano should hear this album. His first hit back in 1990 "La Raza" is a very deep song it's the first track on the album. I listened to that rola over and over again but it's so firme, it's like this song goes out to the whole mexican race. Other rolas que estas firme are "La Familia" which is about mexican families, "Raza Park", "La Raza 2", and "Lowrider" featuring ALT and Mellow Man Ace"

"Ive never heard frost before, so i decided to buy the greatest joints after hearing that he was good and it was a really good decision. The songs are really great, frost his one laid back eastsider. tracks like "no sunshine" are deep and other tracks like "low riders (on the boulovade)" are happy and have a summer, bump in your car feel. The album is great from start to end, think ill have to buy his other "joints". QUALITY!"
"Para Mi Gente"

"The word "Gente" means people...Kid Frost spoke to the people, he spoke to the "Gente". Heavily influenced by an obvious upbringing with "Oldies but Goodies", Frost lays down tracks such as " Thin Line" and "No Sunshine" and even "Lowrider" that capture the essence of being a "Chicano!" We are a very proud race, a very proud people. We were raised on Art Laboe and our parents music. Frost is just like any other homeboy from the neighborhoods or "Barrio" and he proves this witha lyrical content made exclusively for us...his "Gente"...His trademark is and always will be "LA RAZA", a very proud look thru our eyes...thru the eyes of a Latino. I wasn't raised in a gang but i lived in the middle of it all in Santa Paula, Ca. Kid Frost is just one of the "homeboys". Many chicano rappers have come and gone but everyone of them owes a debt of gratitude to the first of us, the Chicano to first bust a rap on mainstream airwaves..."Check it out...a Chicano on the radio"...what's his name holmes?...His name is Kid Frost, of Frost and he was the first Chicano rapper to get radio airplay...following him have been many others with Puerto Ricans "Big Pun" and "Fat Joe" being two of the most successful but Frost was the first "Chicano" to do his thing....BE PROUD GENTE!"
