Lost hero of jazz

"A rare Frank Strozier album, this recording from 1960 was never released on LP, all the more reason why the producers of this CD should be applauded for their good taste ! Frank Strozier started out full of promise, but for some reason or other never really hit it big, and is today largely forgotten. Hearing this CD, one wonders why. This is absolutely brilliant jazz. Not too many alto saxophonists could have been that much better way back in 1960. This CD may not be quite as good as his debut album "Fantastic Frank Strozier", but it is a great session none the less ! Frank Strozier plays a beautifully melodic type of jazz, without ever becoming sentimental, because he really blows ! At 70+ minutes, this is value for money, both when it comes to quality or quantity. Listen to this CD and discover Frank Strozier, the one that got away !"
Another great unknown!

"What a fine CD! This makes a total of 3 CD's that I have of Frank's and every time I play them, I can't help but think, "Where has this guy been? " What a gem of a player. I have heard tantalizing tales of other albums of his, very critically acclaimed, that seem to have disappeared into the misty folds of time. Hopefully some bright record company (hello, Mosaic!) will unearth them and make them available. Can't reccomend his stuff enough. It is a tragedy that he hasn't received more acclaim and acknowledgement, because he certainly deserves it. Hats off to you, Frank!"
