Chopin's meditative masterpieces

"An exquisite album. These Chopin performances are as sensitive as any I have ever heard. Vladimir Shakin performs all the pieces except for the Polonaise in A-flat major, which is played by Eva Smirnova. I had never heard of either of these artists before, possibly because Shakin at least is based in Russia and South Korea rather than the US or Europe. Nonetheless, a quiet room, a comfortable chair, and the fine performances on this CD are all you need to be transported by the transcendence of Chopin."
