CD ReviewsThe Flesh up the ante Alex Skelly | Chicago, IL USA | 07/18/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I heard an advance copy of this EP. It takes some of the ideas (R&B as part of the dirty dance-rock arsenal, dark lyrics, involved beats) that The Flesh laid out on their first EP (Death Connection) and improves on them immensely. The songwriting and the production quality are much better. This recording comes closer than their previous effort to representing the fun that this band is to see live. I'd like to know if they'll ever record a full album. Or are they going to keep teasing us with EPs?
You should check this out...if only because nobody else is really doing anything like it, let alone pretty successfully. It's great to hear something that sounds so different but doesn't sound esoteric." |
