CD Reviews

Middle of the road
Derek S. Bland | Flint, MI, USA | 08/01/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"What keeps this from being a 5-star release is one thing - the use of a female backing singer. Now Fish writes a lot of his solo stuff with a backing female vocalist in mind, and those songs are great. However, Misplaced Childhood was NOT written with this in mind, and in my opinion many of the songs suffer greatly from her out of place and mistimed backing vocals."
Give it another listen!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"The first thing that'll jump out at you when you hear this is that Fish changed the keys in which he sings everything to accomodate his voice not being able to hit the high notes anymore. It's VERY distracting. So much so, that I thought I'd only listen to this once and be done with it. But I gave it another listen, and if you can get past this one thing, it really is a great CD. He's subtly rearranged some of the music and it really does add some neat texture to this great album. If you're a Marillion fan, you should add this to your collection!"
Underated Fish
Greg Hartnagel | Calgary, Canada | 10/02/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Fish is the most underated musician of all time, and it is so disappointing for me. On the other hand, he is a gem who has touched me many times over the years, and in a way, he is my little secret. I promote him as much as possible and always try and get people to check out his solo work, as well as the first 4 Marillion CD's, as they are 4 of the greatest CD's in Rock history. Brilliant lyricist, amazing musician. This Cd is just like the rest, perfect."
