CD Reviews

Thank you Wounded Bird Records for this new wave gem on CD--
Daniel W. Kelly | Long Island, NY United States | 08/26/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This virtually ignored new wave band had two albums in the 80s, and it's great to at last have the first album on CD in all its synthpop glory, with a couple of bonus tracks! Having not only the album, but also the 12" mixes of No Stars and its b-side mastered to digital is a treat. Collectors can only hope that the follow up, self-titled CD will be reissued with the 12" mixes of Accidentally 4th Street and You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet as bonus tracks! Okay, we also need the band's first few 12" singles from the early 80s--In Camera Obscura, Breathless, and Swimming--on CD as well! Figures on a Beach should have been a much bigger player in the new wave game, alongside the likes of A-ha, New Order, Pseudo Echo, OMD, and others in this style, but their only real notice was for the phenomenal dance mix of the single "Accidentally 4th Street"."

"Another group that wouldn't exist if it wasn't for ULTRAVOX. This truly pales in comparison to that woefully underated band!"
