Album Description

Ferran Savall is the talented son of early music icons, Montserrat Figueras and Jordi Savall, and has been touring and performing with his famous family since his late teens, as well as being a regular in the Barcelona jazz scene. Now at age 22, this talented multi-instrumentalist has released his debut album, Mireu el nostre mar, which is a luscious excursion into traditional Catalonian and South American songs, combined with works penned by Ferran himself.

"This is a simply lovely CD that still excites after multiple hearings. Savall's voice has a winsome, vulnerable quality to it and his vocal improvisations combine elements of jazz, folk and world music. His rendering of a Catalan folk song on the second last track is heart-breakingly beautiful. The instrumentation is varied and includes guitars, lutes, oud, piano and the stunning percussion of Pedro Estavan. This CD deserves to sell well."
