"with ten of the fourteen tunes being Ellington. This was the DePaul University Big Band doing a retrospective of Clark Terry's career, notably the Duke Ellington years, 1951-1959. Clark has a long history of being associated with jazz education, hence, this cd seems to be a natural. It's great to hear the traditions of jazz being passed along to the young people who are choosing to make music their careers.Clark doesn't seem to have lost anything at age 75. He still has that distinctive style which seems inimitable. He also does two vocals, "Just Squeeze Me " and "I Want A Little Girl".This was recorded at the De Paul University Concert Hall which didn't seem to be an optimal choice acoustically for a jazz big band (too much echo or reverb?) but that's a minor complaint. This is an enjoyable set for fans of big band and/or Clark Terry."
