CD Reviews

Great single, Too Bad Part 2 Won't See Light Of Day...

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Peace is just a word is one of ~the~ best songs off of the latest Eurythmics album "Peace." The only problem is that this particular single, although it has a video, does not contain any remixes or special live cuts which have made Eurythmics singles notorious.1. Peace [Mathew's Sunlight From Darkness Mix] 2. Peace [Mathew's Future World Mix] 3. Peace [Mathew's Future World Dub] 4. Beautiful Childare on a second version of the single, remixed by yours truly, but unfortunately, all has not gone as planned and most likely, this version of the single will never be out in stores. Although some remixes would have been better than none, at least I can say that Eurythmics are never in need of remixes to promote their music, for it stands alone. The only reason I am giving this particular single 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the lack of diverse content (versions of songs) that it could contain in terms of something not available on the complete album. There is however another version of this ~first~ single which was a very limited edition distributed in the UK with a newspaper...it contains the following;1. Peace Is Just A Word [Album] 2. 17 Again [Album] 3. Beautiful Child [Album] 4. Interview With D & Annie5. Peace Is Just A Word [Video] 6. 17 Again [Live From The Church Video] 7. Beautiful Child [Live From The Warrior Video] 8. Another Interview (different than audio) with D & Annie. Thanks for reading. That is all.~Mathew.c/o MATHEWEME@AOL.COM"
B sides / Remixes? Anyone?

"One of the more compelling tracks from the better than expected Eurythmics comeback album and a great choice for a single. But why oh why oh why won't someone tap the record company on the shoulder and say "where are the remixes", "where are the non-album tracks". These recent singles have failed to deliver very much beyond the stock standard album version and another album track and this single has got to be the worst value yet. "Peace Is Just A Word" would have been one of the few tracks from the new album that could be shipped off to any number of innovative remixers (Massive Attack could've done a nice job on this) and made this single even remotely of interest to the general public. Let alone a rabid fan like myself!"
