CD Reviews

Very Nice Album

"Some friends of ours just brought this CD back from France, and it's a real gem. I've listened to it over and over, yet like it more with every listening (rare to find an album like that these days). I can't speak for his earlier work, but this album is a breath of fresh air from the homogenized stuff so heavily marketed here in the States. Nice songs with interesting arrangements and wonderful production. A clear "Euro" feel to it, the album is sophisticated without pretention. Reminds me of times in France back in the 80's. A great addition to anyones music library...This guy is definitely worth checking out!"
THE TIME TO MATURITY

"What a progress ! Etienne Daho is one of the rare french singer trying again and again to evoluate. "Corps et âmes" is the definitive proof of this statement. After the misunderstanding "Eden" (too techno, too dance...), Daho comes to a simplier music. But simple means not easy-listening music. So "Corps et âmes" is like these jewels which shines when they are put in a pretty box. Each song is a great moment. " Le brasier" is very powerful, very emotional. "Nage indienne" is a little pretty "morceau de bravoure", and "L'année du dragon" is terribly efficient. But it will be a mistake to catch a look to each song separatately. " Corps et âmes" is worse listening like a single part. A concept album ? May be a great word. But surely as a "conceptive" album. Which reveals his treasures each time you listen to it..."
