La Vedova Scaltra from La Fenice

"This is a sublime comic opera. The orchestration is very tricky and is handled wonderfully here by Karl Martin and La Fenice's orchestra. This Naxos recording has excellent sound quality. The soloists are mostly good which makes the couple who are not, really stand out. This is the only fault I find with this recording. Alex Esposito does a good job with the difficult role of Arlecchino. Anna-Lise Sollied once again sings the lead of La Vedova as she did on Opéra National Montpellier recording. If you are going to just have one recording of La Vedova Scaltra I suggest this later one with Enrique Mazzola conducting. You have the incredible Danish soprano Henriette Bonde-Hansen as Marionette and Evgueniy Alexiev who is fantastic as Arlecchino. Giorgio Trucco is delightful as Monsieur Blue. It also comes with an elegant box and libretto. This is an opera that should be in the repertoire more but you need wonderful singers who are also very good actors."
