Synopsis

Product Description
With the release of the Quorum CD, the band rose to new heights in 2005 and 2006, not only locally, but on the National stage. Eric was interviewed on KCSM for over one hour by George Hughes, who featured four tracks from the CD. The continued support from the Jazz giant KCSM along with the great write-up in Metro by Sarah Quellend led to a packed house at Waves Smokehouse for the CD release party. Quorum has been received quite well on College and Jazz stations throughout the United States, primarily in the Northeast and Central regions, where Quorum did reach the TOP 10 on the Jazz charts. Local gigs include regular appearances at Gordon Biersch Brewery, Agenda Jazz Club, and Boas Elite Club in the South Bay and the San Jose Jazz Festival and the Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival and a featured appearance at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz. The cut Pindrop was chosen for Jazz Improv Magazine s Summer 2004 Sampler and The Jazz Society of Santa Cruz Sampler. Eric Bolvin and his group have a firm sense for traditional and bebop, but this album is more than a recreation of the past. Their maturity and inventiveness prevails in every way. ~ Joshua Musslewhite Jazz Improv Magazine Quorum is an unassuming knockout from the start! Bolvin is one hot player, drawing from the inspiration of the trumpet s masters and turning it into his own sound. In fact, Bolvin has a sound to which many players aspire; and he is a forthright bandleader, composer and arranger. His arrangement of Billy Strayhorn s Chelsea Bridge is a masterful example of this. ~Trevor McLaren - All About Jazz.com Local jazz musician, studio player and educator Eric Bolvin has rounded up an impressive cast to play songs from his new CD in a live setting. Trumpet player Bolvin is joined by saxophonist Tom Politzer (fresh off a yearlong tour with Tower Of Power), guitarist Ken Harrill, bassist Dan Robbins, drummer Peter Booras and keyboardist Joe Heinemann to perform a variety of pleasing original cool jazz and modern compositions, plus Bolvin s elegantly wistful arrangement of Billy Strayhorn s Chelsea Bridge . ~Sarah Quelland - METRO Magazine
